Spanish Fork Competition- solo night. part 2

Tiffy went onstage and performed her Jazz but I have never seen her perform it so badly. There were technical mistakes and control issues everywhere I looked. However, I knew exactly why. Tiffy is ruled by her emotions, as am I sometimes. When she is upset, she doesn't perform well. We were still super proud of her for going out there and doing her best given the givens..but her upset feelings showed in her performance. Even now, almost 2 months later, it bothers me how everything went down that night. I think the thing that bothers me the most is how they made her feel. They told her in effect, that she wasn't good enough at the last competition to take 1st. Which is fine. She took the comments and worked harder. Then she comes out and does better and they cream her for it. They say she sucks even worse. Tiffy really took it super hard and it was a really hard thing to understand. In respect for Tiff, and all the hard work she puts into her work, I will not post that video.

Here are some pics from that dance. Looking at the pics, you would never know how very upset she was, unless you REALLY know her and can tell when its fake. lol.

At the final awards that night, Tiffy got a Ruby 2nd place. Which of course made all of us laugh since this dance was so much worse than the other dance. But now, on the upside, it gave us something to fight that score with. When we got the judging sheets, we saw that her Jazz scored higher than her Lyrical AND we saw how hard she was docked for "being too good" and "needs to be in a higher category". Complete crao, but what can ya do? Nothing! Scores are final and there isn't anything much. However, all the info was sent to the Director since if they think she is too good, they should have told us that in St George NOT in SP. We all left really dissapointed. Tiffy was so upset by the whole thing she didn't want pics with any of her trophies. She called them "Crap Trophies!". LOL. Tiffy had girls from lots of different studios coming up to her and telling her how good she did on her lyrical and how they thought she should have gotten 1st and High Point. It did help make her feel a bit better to know that its not just us that thought she was totally jipped. She took pics w Jocelyn and Janica and you can tell her smiles are totally fake. lol. At least she is trying.

All in all, it wasn't a very good day and we felt like it was very unfair (Janica and Jocelyn thought so too). However, theshow must go on, and the next day was team comps and so Tiffy really made an effort to improve her attitude and try to let it go.

Spanish Fork Competition- Solo night pt 1

Tiffy took all the comments and everything said from the judges at St George and she really took it to heart and applied it to her work. She went out there and performed her lyrical first. She did an amazing job. None of her pictures turned out since the photographer said his camera broke a few #'s before her dance. UGH! Then, to make it worse, I didn't take any pics since they promised me they'd get great pics of her. Double UGH!!! Yeah, I know, It was a stupid thing for me to not do, but I learned my lesson- that's for sure. I did get the photographer to give me my money back and she gave me the pics for Nationals free as well, but still...you can'trecoop those memories. :(

The video quality isn't very good, but I'm going to post it anyway since you can see how good she did. Yes, she made some mistakes, but for the Jr Amateur level it is VERY good.

After she performed, we were all so happy for her and sure she would at least take 1st if not High Point. So, we got her changed for her next dance (since she was performing right after the awards) and then went to awards ceremony. She was so happy and excited to find out how she scored with her lyrical.

You can see how excited and happy she is in all the pics at awards. lol.

They always have a dance off to loosen the girls up and just let them have some fun before the awards are given.

This video shows them all dancing and having a great time:

After this, the awards were given out. Tiffany took Ruby 2nd place for her lyrical. This just crushed Tiff and she tried so hard not to cry onstage but you could see her reaction immediately. She went up and got her trophy but you could tell it didnt mean anything to her. She was beyond crushed! As soon as awards were over, I went to talk to Janica and Jocelyn to see what had happened. They were going to speak to the director right away. We were all furious and didn't understand. She had done SO MUCH BETTER than last time. So, how can she score lower? Getting a Ruby automatically lets us know they scored her a LOT lower. I was furious!

However, Tiffy was on soon, so I had to try to get her in a better head space. She was crying and so upset. I had to fix her makeup and try to get her ready for her Jazz. I did my best to convince her of what all of knew, but it was too late. She was too upset.

Dress Rehearsal for Spanish Fork Competition

We had our 2nd comp of the year at Spanish Fork. on the weekend of 4/8-4/9. So, on Thursday, 4/7 we had our standard dress rehearsal. The Legacy girls were funny cause they kept trying to copy the dance of the Starlets. So, in these pics, you can see them copying the dance. LOL.

Afterwards, they practiced their own dances. They always practice Jazz first.

Then they moved on to Lyrical.

All in all, an uneventful day.

Video's and final comments on the St George competition

The videos for Tiffany's solo's didn't turn out very good. However, looking back at the videos I see such growth from that 1st competition to the end of the year nationals.

The video for their Lyrical didn't turn out so good either, but it is a very pretty dance. Right before their Jazz dance, Josh realized that he must have bumped the video camera because we ended up with no power to the video camera and unable to record it. Luckily, Stacey had the video and got me a copy of it. That is why Tiffy is not shown at the beginning- cause she was on the other end of the floor as Aubrey. All in all, the girls all did well and the dance is super cute and fun to watch.

The video is too high in MB, but it is posted on my facebook page. See Facebook to see the video.

Team Competitions- 1st comp of the year. Pt 2

In the afternoon, the girls had their Jazz dance. It is Waka Waka by Shakira.

The girls got a Diamond 1st place for this dance.

The weather was really cold, so the weather sucked, but it snowed up north. So, it was nice to only get cold rain in comparison. LOL. All in all, it was a great competition and a lot of fun.

Team Competitions- 1st comp of the year. Pt 1

On Saturday, we got up and got ready and then went over to the school. The girls had to perform lyrical first. Their lyrical is Beautiful Life.

Their team scored Ruby 1st Place for this dance.
