Tumbling Observation Day

So, it's observation week at dance again. I like this week cause I get to see what goes on. I see a lot of dance stuff, but tumbling I never get to see...so its cool. I also found out they are first in the final revue. So, that's cool too.

Anyway, yesterday (Monday 4/27) was the tumbling day. I got there just after class started and Tiffy and Josh (LOL!) were warming up the girls.

She has done a lot of hard work to get "gumbi" like so that she can move on to the next level in dance- Good for her!

She is a total goof ball- like Josh! Drives me crazy sometimes when it's at totally innapropriate times, but hey at least it means she has a lot of fun with life.

The other thing, is that she is a TOTAL poser in front of the camera. Ok, so I am like that too - always have been. Funny!

The Photo Shoot

So, Thursday 4/23 was the date of Tiffy's photo shoot for her comp card and head shot and etc pics with Natalie Cass (the photographer). I'm so OCD that I had prepped for a week for it, with the bulk of it being done the night before. Lucky for me, Josh and Crystal came as well. Tiffy did her share of the prepping by making her "tear sheet" book/ Idea book, and praticed her poses daily.

We got there around 10:45 AM, and waited for a few minutes (our appointment wasn't till 11 A- but you have to be early in this industry to be taken seriously). I brought Tiffy with no makeup but with hair washed and blow dried as requested. She had been cut off from sugar, carbonation and sodium for the 3 days prior to the shoot for the best coloring possible.

They were impressed with how much I had brought and were happy to see they had lots to choose from. I didn't think I had gone above and beyond. I had brought everything they asked me to bring- A minimum of 5 character outfits with a couple choices on each one and all the accessories and props to go with it.

She then moved on to get styled for the first shoot which was going to be an outdoor location which tends to be a big hit with kid portfolios. The stylist was good and worked well with her.

At the outdoor shoot, she did very well- she was fluid, high energy and helped the process along without a problem. She also listened well, which is always a big plus from the photographers perspective. They said that if there was ever a kid meant to be a model, it was her. I couldn't help but smile at that. She had a lot of fun with that portion of the shoot. The stylist was good and was very hands on during the whole thing ensuring that she looked her best at all times.

After the outdoor shoot, we went back inside to get her styled for a dance/sportsy pose which we ended up doing a very 80's theme and used her "Mickey" costume. Very cute. She had a bit of a harder time with this one because she was getting hundry at this point, and had to redo a lot of the actions so that the photographer could get the right angle in action form. Tiffy, like Josh, is hypoglycemic and has a hard time when they don't eat. We took a short break and I talked with her about the importance of staying happy and positive while working. She ate while we talked and was in a much better spot shortly after.

We then moved on to a slumber party theme shoot. It turned out way cute and only took about 15 minutes- very fast.

After that, we did the head shot, 3/4 shots and were done. The photographer and stylist said they had to give me an A++ for being the most prepared parents ever. I took that as a compliment. They also said she was a complete natural at this and was set ready. That is great to hear as well. By the time we left, it was 2 PM and we were all starving and exhausted. All in all a good day though.

First Workshop

So, Saturday the 18th was Tiffy's first modeling and acting workshop. Every Saturday she has a workshop and every week they work on different things- one week it may be runway, another it will be memorization techniques and etc.

On the way there and were being goofy and Tiffy wanted to use the camera to take some pics. :)

We kinda laughed about it.

When we got there, they worked on runway for their show cominguip on 5/23. They also got their script to learn as well. it's a cute littel story about the people of fairy tales like mary contrary and mary with a lamb, and etc.

Other than the fact that Tiffy gets nervous and walks a bit too fast, she did pretty good. She likes the workshops and has fun at them. The only drawback is that they're on Saturdays which is usually dance...so it makes it nuts. On comp weekends, we won't be able to go, but other than that we'l just book it from dance to make it on time. Luckily for us, its not every weekend that we have dance since they cancelled a couple of weekend practices- yea!

We took 1st!

I just wanted to follow up and say that we are AWESOME!!!! The dance studio Tiffy is in took first in everything. All of the individual groups took first in each of their categories, and most of them took overall high scores as well. Super cool! I hope we can kick butt like that the rest of the competitions. I have a feeling we will only get better. Yea!

Going out

So, I've been so busy with everything that's been going on (especially this week), but my friend jeanie called me Friday night (yesterday) and asked me if I wanted to go out cause she just needed to get out of the house. So, we decided to go watch a movie. Since I asn't able to get a babysitter on such short notice, we decided to take the girls to go see Monsters Vs. Aliens. It was a cute movie and they really enjoyed it. They were laughing really hard through the whole thing.

After, the movie, we decided to go out for pie once Josh got home so he could watch Tiffy. We went to Denny's and chatted for a while. It's nice to get out and just hang with your friends (without the kids) sometimes. I had to laugh, casue we were just hanging out, but by the time I got home it was after 1:30A. Time flies when you're having fun.

Going out with girls (no matter what you're doing) always reminds me that being a woman is hard and you have to make sure that you find time for yourself or you find yourself burnt out. It is very easy to give and give and give, and forget that you need recoop and "you" time as well. Something we all struggle with- I'm sure.

Either way, it was a fun time, and Iiked just chatting with Jeanie and getting to know her a lot better.

Modeling

So, on Wednesday, I got an email from Josh who had gotten information from a high profile talent agency who wanted to see Tiffy at their open casting call. I took her in on Thursday evening. They had her walk and do a cold read and also took some pictures. They really liked her and asked her to come back on Monday. I guess we will see where this is leading to, but I hope it works out for her. I think she is very pretty and would do very well in the industry.

Here are some of the pics I have that of her portfolio pics.

Breaking in the Spring...

So, last Sunday we decided to have a BBQ with some of our friends (Angie & Alton and Jeanie & Coby and their kids). We had held it at their houses the last couple of times so we figured it was probably our"turn" to host. :)

We (the adults) ate outside in the gazebo, and the kids ate inside at the table. It was nice to get together and chat and spend some time outside. It's kind of funny because as soon as winter hits, we all get reclusive. We all talk, we just don't hang out together as much.

The kids had fun playing together and on the trampoline.

After dinner and a lot of laughs, we decided to make smores and break our fire pit in for the season. I love our fire pit. It was a great idea and we have enjoyed it so much since we decided to put it in.

It's nice to get together with friends and enjoy each other's company. Getting older is sometimes a challenge in that it becomes hard to balance everything you have to do with all the things you want to do. Luckily, those 2 sets of friends live close and our kids all get along and like each other which makes it easy to spend time together. We'll definitely have to do it again once the weather gets nicer.
